Betsy Naylor

Betsy is a trained Expressive Arts Therapist, National Certified Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor. She began her professional journey in University settings and after working with college students for seven years, she decided to take a sabbatical to Bangalore, India, to study Expressive Arts through the lenses of Jungian Theory and Indian culture. Upon her return, Betsy worked at a Psychiatric Hospital for three years and also began her private practice. Since 2017 she has supported The Veterans Program at R.O.C.K and in 2018 became a Director and Board member of a non-profit Resilient-Me expressive arts program in Georgetown, TX. Betsy is a member of the American Counseling Association and International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. She is also a published artist, writer, and facilitator of Touch Drawing. Betsy’s approach to therapy originates from the Southern Appalachian expressive arts philosophy which is inextricably linked with the landscape. The inner landscape of body knowledge, intuitive wisdom, emotions, and unconscious material through our dreams are expressed and honored as valid ways of knowing. While the outer landscape of the mountains, rivers, and the cycles of the day, moon, and seasons, reminds us that there are many lessons to be learned if we can receive the invitation to slow down enough to pay attention. Betsy practices yoga for self-care and is passionate about dreamwork, therapeutic writing, and intuitive painting.
