Katy Bruce

For the last 8 years, Katy has helped persons of all ages navigate various mental illnesses and emotional distress at inpatient and outpatient levels of care. Throughout her career, Katy has provided individual, family, and group therapy within psychiatric hospitals and private therapy, working with individuals from various backgrounds. Katy earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in social work from Abilene Christian University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and board-approved supervisor. Katy believes that people often operate from the basis of their story: what has happened in their lives and what they know and feel.

Katy strives to help you understand your collection of experiences, thoughts, and feelings in order to assist you in reaching goals, and essentially, to get where you want to go. She will do her best to understand you and is willing to laugh or cry with you. Katy works through somewhat of a relational model and will be willing to hold the space with you, and talk through difficult thoughts and feelings, help you challenge your thinking when necessary with respect and positive regard. Katy provides education about mental health and other human issues that may help you evolve your process and get “un-stuck” from repetitive cycles.
