Our Approach to Psychosis Disorder Treatment
We provide long-term, psychiatry-driven treatment for men and women struggling with psychosis and other mental health conditions. Men begin treatment at The Ranch, while women receive treatment at Casa Esperanza. Our program serves those who need a higher level of support than traditional outpatient services can provide, and promotes long-term stability through individualized care, therapy, family involvement, and peer support.
Care is provided by our team of psychiatrists, licensed therapists, nurses, peer support specialists, and other mental health professionals. Located in Georgetown, Texas, our program lasts for a minimum of 12 weeks and is adapted as necessary depending on each client’s individual needs. Throughout treatment, family members play an active role in their loved one’s treatment, while the client develops important skills to support long-term recovery.
Get Healing on Your Terms
If you or someone you care about is struggling to address your need for mental health, Alta Loma could mean the difference between relapse and long-term recovery

Treating Psychosis With the Right Clinical Environment
Psychosis is one of the most serious symptoms of mental illness. However, with the right clinical environment and the help of a mental health professional, it is also one of the most treatable. With consistent psychiatric care, structured treatment, and a supportive therapeutic setting, many individuals achieve meaningful stability and improved daily functioning.
Families often begin searching for assistance when they are unsure what level of treatment is truly necessary for their loved one. A comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan can help determine the most effective path forward, while providing both clients and their families with the resources and support they need moving forward.
Get Healing on Your Terms
If you or someone you care about is living with psychosis or another type of severe mental health disorder, finding the right level of care can make all the difference. Our team provides long-term, psychiatry-driven treatment to men and women through separate programs. Treatment is designed to address psychiatric needs, improve overall functioning, and support lasting recovery.
How Alta Loma Is Different
Selecting a mental health treatment provider requires careful evaluation of clinical depth, continuity of care, and the ability to support complex psychiatric presentations. Our facility was built for clinical situations that cannot be responsibly managed in shorter or less structured settings.
Dual Diagnosis Support
Our programs are designed to treat mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders, addressing the unique challenges of dual diagnosis for more effective recovery.
Family-Focused Therapy
Families are integral to the healing process, participating in weekly sessions and intensive monthly programs that strengthen support systems and improve treatment outcomes.
Long-Term, Psychiatry-Driven Care
Individualized treatment led by board-certified psychiatrists ensures every resident receives expert guidance for complex mental health conditions. This approach supports lasting stability rather than short-term symptom relief.
High Staff Involvement
Residents benefit from a high staff-to-client ratio, with continuous, personalized care from therapists, psychiatrists, and peer specialists throughout the treatment journey.
Community Reintegration Model
We focus on real-world skills and gradual reentry into the community, helping residents transition confidently while maintaining mental health stability.
Holistic, Evidence-Based Approach
Our care combines psychotherapy, medication management, psychoeducation, and complementary therapies, creating a comprehensive, science-backed plan tailored to each resident’s needs.

When Severe Psychosis Requires More Than Short-Term Care
When psychosis affects relationships, functioning, safety, or overall well-being, structured treatment beyond short-term care is likely necessary. Our program is designed for adults with severe mental illness, including postpartum psychosis, treatment-resistant schizophrenia, brief psychotic disorder, substance-induced psychotic disorder, and other complex psychiatric disorders.
Through ongoing psychiatric evaluation, individualized treatment plans, appropriate antipsychotic drugs or antidepressants, and evidence-based talk therapies, our team focuses on continual long-term progress in a safe, structured, and supported environment.
Understanding Psychosis and Psychotic Disorders
Psychosis significantly disrupts daily functioning, relationships, and overall health, most often requiring long-term specialized care. Our psychiatry-driven program provides individualized care for both men and women who require care beyond what short-term programs can provide.
Through a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, the development of an individualized treatment plan, prescription medications when appropriate, and evidence-based therapies, long-term recovery can be achieved.
Common Psychotic Symptoms
Psychosis significantly disrupts daily functioning, relationships, and overall health, most often requiring long-term specialized care. Our psychiatry-driven program provides individualized care for both men and women who require care beyond what short-term programs can provide.
Being able to recognize the signs of psychosis early allows families to seek treatment for their loved one before symptoms progress. Although symptoms can vary from person to person, family members often notice changes in their loved one’s behavior, thinking, or functioning before an official diagnosis is made. - Delusions, or fixed false beliefs resistant to evidence

Coordinated Specialty Care for Psychosis
Choosing the right treatment provider for psychosis and other types of severe mental illness requires careful evaluation of clinical capability, continuity of care, and admission standards.
Our program was intentionally designed for individuals whose needs exceed what shorter or less structured programs can responsibly manage. Through individualized psychiatric care and a comprehensive treatment plan, our team focuses on long-term stabilization, improved overall functioning, and community reintegration.
Integrated Care for Psychosis and Co-Occurring Disorders
Substance use frequently intersects with psychosis, sometimes leading to substance-induced psychotic disorder. Our team provides coordinated dual diagnosis care that combines psychiatric treatment, individualized addiction counseling, peer support, and evidence-based therapies. Addressing both conditions simultaneously helps support long-term stability moving forward.
Continuity of Care Across Treatment Settings
Recovery from psychosis often requires long-term support that extends beyond initial treatment. We provide a structured continuum of care through gender specific extended care and supportive living, allowing clients to progress at an appropriate pace. Comprehensive discharge planning includes coordination of housing, outpatient psychiatry, therapy, case management, and peer support to promote lasting stability.
Our Comprehensive Assessment Program
When the right diagnosis or level of care is unclear, our comprehensive assessment program provides an in-depth evaluation to help provide guidance before treatment begins. Through advanced psychological testing, psychiatric evaluation, neuropsychological screening, and functional analysis, our team develops an evidence-based diagnostic profile and a personalized treatment roadmap.
At the conclusion of the assessment, clients and families receive a written summary of findings, recommendations for the appropriate level of care, functional and cognitive insights, and family-informed guidance to support the next steps. Our admissions process is very thorough because appropriate placement is essential in achieving long-term stability and meaningful progress.

Psychosis Related to Substance Use Disorders
Integrated dual diagnosis treatment addresses both severe mental illness and substance use, including psychosis associated with substances such as amphetamines or cocaine, supporting lasting recovery through coordinated psychiatric and addiction care.

How Evidence-Based Psychosis Treatment Works
Effective treatment for psychosis requires ongoing evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Our care is individualized and continuously refined based on each client’s progress. Every treatment plan is guided by comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, clinical observation, and collaboration among the treatment team to promote better overall functioning and stability.
Individualized Treatment Plans
No two presentations of psychosis are exactly alike. Each client receives an individualized treatment plan based on diagnostic findings, functional needs, and long-term goals, allowing care to evolve as symptoms progress and change. This personalized approach supports greater treatment engagement and overall stability.
Peer Support
At our facility, peer support specialists provide encouragement, practical guidance, and lived experience that complements clinical care. Their support helps clients build confidence, strengthen recovery skills, and prepare for successful community reintegration.
Managing Medication Side Effects and Ongoing Monitoring
Ongoing psychiatric monitoring helps evaluate the effectiveness of antipsychotic drugs and other prescription medications while identifying and managing potential metabolic, neurological, or cognitive side effects. Regular follow-up allows treatment to be adjusted as needed to support both long-term psychiatric stability and overall well-being.
Psychotherapy
Evidence-based talk therapies help individuals with psychosis build insight, strengthen coping skills, and improve emotional regulation. We use therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, manage distress, and develop healthier behavioral responses that support long-term stability and daily functioning.
Psychiatry and Medication Management
Psychiatry is a core pillar of care for our team, with ongoing evaluations guiding every stage of treatment. Our psychiatrists carefully manage antipsychotic drugs and other prescription medications, refining each regimen to support stability while minimizing unnecessary medications and side effects. Medication decisions are continuously reassessed to reflect each client’s clinical response and changing diagnostic needs.
Your Comprehensive Treatment Team
Effective treatment for psychosis requires coordinated care from experienced mental health professionals. Our interdisciplinary team collaborates to provide ongoing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, therapy, and individualized treatment plan adjustments that support long-term stability and recovery. Clients are supported by psychiatrists, Master’s-level therapists, peer support specialists, behavioral health staff, and addiction counselors.
The Role of Clinicians, Providers, and Mental Health Professionals
Every mental health professional on the treatment team contributes specialized expertise while collaborating within a shared, individualized treatment plan. Regular communication among psychiatric, therapeutic, and behavioral health providers ensures care evolves alongside each client’s clinical needs.

Family Involvement, Community Integration, Long-Term Wellness
Long-term stability is strengthened through family involvement, meaningful therapeutic relationships, and opportunities to build independence in a structured environment. Family-supported care and community reintegration are integrated throughout treatment, helping clients develop the skills and support system they need for lasting wellness.
Family-Supported Care
Psychosis affects the entire family, making education and involvement essential to long-term recovery. We provide ongoing family support, including regular communication with clinicians, weekly support groups, and monthly family intensives that help loved ones better understand severe mental illness while building healthy, supportive relationships.
Community Reintegration
Community reintegration helps clients gradually build the confidence and practical skills needed for greater independence. Through structured opportunities to practice daily living skills and develop healthy social connections, clients are better prepared for lasting stability beyond treatment.
Building Stability and Independence
Recovery is measured not only by symptom improvement but also by the ability to live and function independently. Our therapeutic work program and community reintegration model help clients develop practical life skills, build confidence, and support long-term stability.
